Hi, I have emailed Green MFG (http://www.green-mfg.com/) about their JR4000 and where to go look at these products but they have been completely unresponsive. I would like to see one of the PHDs for my BX2200. I libve in Austin TX. Does anyone know where I can go see this?

Scott,
Depending upon how many holes you plan on drilling; I would suggest you take a look at the Tractor Supply Center PHD. They are not the top of the line but for the dollar spent IF you are drilling a limited number of fence post holes; pretty tough to beat. I have a PD25 Land Pride PHD which cost near $900 that I have not used yet but is VERY heavy duty and designed for the worst case and found that neighbors have done just as well with bargain brand diggers. If you are digging just a few fence post holes; I think you will do well with the "el cheapo PHD". If you are drilling 100's of fence post holes.......... better think about and heavy duty well built PHD. ....

Hey thanks. I am not planning to drill 100's - maybe 50 as I go at my pace, and the occasional post for a swing, etc. I have no idea the price of the Green MGF PHD's either - seems hard to find out info about this product but do need one for the limited cat 1. Not going the 900.00 route though - looking for a cheapo indeed. Use ho have aLienback years ago and worked fine in North Carolina ground. I'm in Texas now and need a rock bit limited cat 1. Anyone with suggestions would be appreciated - Scott H. ....

Scott,
If you are looking or el cheapo; the TSC has PHD's for $384. Not sure if they have stores in your area. ....

yes TSC has stores around Austin, TX. I like that $384 price also. For that price, even if it does not completely fit the limited cat 1, and may drag on the ground, it may be worth it. ....I will see if it has a rock bit - it seems it should have that option if buying local. thanks, Scott ....

You can cheat a few extra inches of lift out of your limited cat. 1 by replacing the fixed length lifting rod with a second adjustable rod (see my pics). You could also park the rear tires on "ramp" built with wood planks or similar. However, I would highly recommend that you look at a digger built specifically for a sub-CUT, even if the only difference is a shorter auger bit. Good luck with the hunt and be sure to let us fellow sub-CUT owners know how it works out! ....

One more thought on this - I am wondering if I can get the el cheapo TSC PHD and then shorten the augers by cutting the tops off with an Oxy tourch. Then drill/cut new sheere pin holes. Hmmmmm. I will be gong to look at this. I really like the cheap price for what I am doing.....Scott ....
